Skin type vs. skin condition
Understanding your skin is the key to choosing the optimal daily routine and targeted treatments. Many are familiar with the term skin type, but in reality, often confuse this with skin conditions. For example, dry skin is a “type” while dehydrated skin is a “condition”.
We are all born with a skin type. This is based on the amount of naturally occurring oil in your skin. Based on this typology, your skin type can be dry, normal, combination or oily.
Unlike skin type, skin conditions can change over the course of your life. They are caused by lifestyle factors (e.g., stress), external factors (e.g., pollution, UV exposure), product usage (e.g., too abrasive treatments) or hormonal changes and aging. Most common skin conditions include dehydrated skin, reactive/sensitive skin, dark spots/hyperpigmentation, aging skin, visible pores and b lemish prone skin. The good news is that skin conditions are something we can treat and rectify with targeted products.
